Annual Summer Sprints Fun Gala

On Saturday 2nd August, Inverclyde Masters held their Annual Summer Sprints Fun Gala. The weather was perfect for the event which was hosted at Gourock’s 33.3 metre Outdoor Swimming Pool.

Overlooking the River Clyde, with Kilcreggan, Loch Long and the Holy Loch as a stunning backdrop, teams from Perth, Heart of Midlothian, North Ayrshire and Glasgow Nomads joined Inverclyde Masters in a whirlwind sprint series consisting of 1, 2 and 3 length races. Winners on the day were the composite team from Perth and Heart of Midlothian. All visitors were unanimous in their praise, saying it was a fabulous fun day out and a wonderful fresh-air experience. Dolphins escorting the last sea-going paddle steamer The Waverley for the group photo was a most definite memorable moment. After a buffet of sandwiches and cakes, the competitors headed off to Cleats Bar at Gourock Pierhead for a few refreshments. Following this year’s success the club hopes to see a few more clubs join in the fun at next year’s event. Keep an eye on the website for further details.
