RAPID AT REN đŚđ¨
Our team was on top form at the inaugural Ren 96 Masters meet today at the On-X centre in Linwood, with 7 swimmers testing themselves in some fast paced action.
For some of the team it was the first dip into competitive action in a while, with both Simona and Julie posting strong swims. Simona showcased the depths of her talents across four different events. Julie showed that her hard work in training has really paid off, with a really strong performance in the 100m IM and Freestyle.
For some it was an incredible debut, with Isobel entering her first ever competitive event, posting a fantastic time in the 100m Free, with a huge improvement on her entry time.
The meet came at a perfect time for the team to get some race practice in before the Scottish Championships in a few weeks time, with Andy, Jim and Sarah posting impressive times in all their events. Andy learned the hard way about looking at the meet schedule, racing three tough events in a row, and Jim showcased his speed with impressive times in the 100m Back and Freestyle.
Sarah showcased her strength in the 100m Breast, with a strong swim, and posted improved times in the 100m IM and Free.
Alan also geared himself up for the National Championships with some gutsy performances that showed off his competitive spirit! In his 100m Breast he went out hard, closely followed by Simona all the way to the end, and then on the 100m IM, a hard sprint finish saw him chase Julie down every metre of the pool, with only half a second separating the two in the end!
The team ended the day with the relay events, and with the help Matthew from Inverness and Iain of Glasgow Nomads, everyone was selected to race, and finished off on a team high, posting good results in both the Mixed Freestyle and Medley events.
Our thanks goes to our coach Mark for his guidance and support through the meet, and to all the officials who volunteered to make the event possible.
Also a special shout out to the team at Ren 96 for organising such an enjoyable and successful meet, that we can hopefully return to one day.
Next stop, Glenrothes!!! đ´ó §ó ˘ó łó Łó ´ó ż
